Bon Suter
Bon Suter is a sculptor who draws inspiration from nature, often working in a more abstract style that allows the themes to emerge naturally from within the material. She lives and sculpts from her seaside home in Christchurch, where the coastal environment deeply influences her work.
A veteran of many stone symposiums in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, Bon has represented Christchurch in international symposia, including in Adelaide, Australia, and Lyndhurst, England. Over the years, she has worked in various mediums, starting with wool and clay before progressing naturally to the ancient and organic forms of stone.
One of her more recent commissions, the "7 Godwits," graces the South Brighton Bridge, their forms moving gracefully with the wind, reflecting her connection to the natural world. Growing up in the hills of Akaroa, Bon has always been drawn to the beauty of nature and the sea, which continues to inspire her creative vision.
